The 41 contestants arrived yesterday for several days of rehearsals leading up to preliminary competitions which start on Wednesday at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts in Columbus, GA.
After the preliminaries, the Top Ten will compete again on Saturday night in order to determine the new Miss Georgia for 2008.

The new winner will have to work hard to continue the successes of her four predecessors: Andrea Bailey (Top 15 @ Miss America), Danica Tisdale (Top 10 @ Miss America), Monica Pang (1st Runner-up @ Miss America), and Amanda Kozak (2nd Runner-up @ Miss America).
The contestants are divided into three groups -- the Mu, the Gamma, and the Alpha -- and each night each group competes in a different area of competition. Winners are announced for each group each night. I will have updates here, but you can also follow the pageant throughout the week at two other sites: the official Miss Georgia website and at a Competition Week site set-up by the CBS affiliate in Columbus.
